Mahatma Gandhi Statue at Chowk..

Famous landmark of Surat - Mahatma Gandhi's statue at Chowk. The statue was unveiled for the city by Dr Rajendra Prasad on 17th October 1950. Right behind the statue is the Customs & Excise Collectorate.

Rang Upavan..

Rang Upavan, which used to be an open air theatre, is now fully covered, and the road from Makkai Pool to Gandhi Baug renamed to Ardeshir Kotwal Marg. (Surat, at the start of the 19th century, was ravaged by dacoits, and there was no security for life and property. A Parsi Officer by the name of Ardeshir Dhanjisha Bahadur, the Kotwal took it upon himself to rid the city of this menace. He succeeded so well, that the British rulers of the time conferred a special medal on him in 1830, and the Muncipal Corporation honoured him by naming the road after him)

Kwality Restauant

Surtis are very fond of "Kwality" Restaurant located close to Rang Upavan Auditorium. Its been one of the oldest Non-Veg Restaurants in Surat.

Makkai Pool Traffic Island..

Interesting sculpture in a traffic island at Makkai Pool. Its believed to have been inspired by the fishermen who sail the river in search of good catch.. The "Macchiwad" is just across the street.

Hovercraft Station...

The dilapidated remains of what was once the Station for the Surat-Bhavnagar Hovercraft Service, which saw the Hovercraft getting lost mid-sea a few times before the service was shutdown. The hovercraft had cut down travelling time of the Surat-Bhavnagar land route which took more than 12 hrs to the sea route which hardly took an hour. Now there's hardly any water in the river for the hovercraft to get here!

Swaminarayan Temple

Famous Swaminarayan Temple in Adajan area, which has now become a landmark of sorts for Surtis.
