Shital Cinema and "Ponk" Picnics..

The only theatre in Rander/Adajan area (apart from the now defunct Rupali) which used to be a hit with the school/college bunks and giltterati of Surat. Inaugurated in 1970 with the famous film "Anand". It subsequently went on to screen lots of Hollywood movies, and was frequented by lovers of Hollywood. It currently screens hindi movies and b-grade ones.

The Old Bus Station & Service Centre as viewed from the crossroads leading to Shital, Hope Pul, and Rander. It is defunct now, but does elicit memories of its heydays, when most of the buses plying from Rander were serviced here.

What remains of the vast open land, which used to be the "Ponk Picnic" area... Its now a very small place cordoned off. In times bygone, Surti's would camp here during winter right from morning alongwith family, and badminton raquets, cricket bats, savour the famous "Aandhri Vani no Ponk" which was available fresh from the various "Bhatthis", and enjoy a whole day out.
